CHATTING WITH MIKE
What is the most important quality you have as an agent that you try to convey to your clients?
Empathy. Buying/selling a home is not only the most expensive transaction of someone’s life but also the most emotional. Being very attune to my clients’ fears, desires, anxieties is extremely important to me and has helped me navigate very difficult situations.
If you were in line at the grocery store, what's the first magazine you would grab?
Probably some US Weekly or some other trashy gossip magazine. It’s mindless but sometimes that’s what you need to stay sane in this industry.
Where did you do your first deal?
My first deal was a 1 bedroom co-op at 67 East 11th in Greenwich Village. The sellers took a chance on a new agent to sell their home and I delivered. We had an accepted offer within the first 2 weeks!
What is your favorite restaurant?
Gramercy Tavern. So many memories there!
What type of animal would you be?
My best friend is a travel writer and recently went to South Africa. She said I would be a Zebra because they’re very social creatures that get along with everyone.
Truth or Dare?
Dare, always. Which usually gets me into trouble.
What's your favorite Bravo show?
Real Housewives of NY and MDLNY
What is your favorite building in New York?
There’s a mansion on 91st street called the Fabbri Mansion. It’s no longer residential but it once belonged to my distant relative, Ernesto Fabbri who married a Vanderbilt. It was gifted to them. My dream is to one day get the listing!
If you could sell anything, what would it be?
Who is your dream client?
Kind, happy people. Regardless of the price point.
What WAS THE BEST DATE NIGHT YOU HAD IN NEW YORK?
The night I got engaged. I took my partner to Gramercy Tavern for dinner and then a walk through the park. I was able to get a key from my client who lives on the park and I surprised him by opening up the gate and then proposing. I then had a surprise party waiting for him at our apartment with all our closest friends and family to celebrate. It was magical.
